Exercise Excuses
3 Common Opt-Outs: Stop Giving In to Them!
Few of us like the idea of exercise. It’s one of those things which grows on you: the more you do it and see the benefits.
.
However, few of us get to that stage. Instead, we come up with a myriad of excuses about why exercise won’t work out for us.
.
Of course, we don’t need to justify our lack of exercise to anyone else. We make these excuses for ourselves. Which would suggest that, deep down, we know they’re rubbish.
.
We’re going to look at a few of the most common excuses, and examine why we don’t believe them.
.
.
.
1. ‘I Don’t Need To’
.
Some people justify their lack of exercise by claiming they have no need for it. First, the fact that they’re defending themselves suggests they know otherwise.
.
It’s also worth mentioning that individuals who use this excuse think of exercise only regarding weight loss benefits. They’re happy with their figures and see no point in working out.
.
But they’re wrong. Exercise is essential for us all, regardless of body shape.
.
In fact, weight loss isn’t the main reason for exercise at all. There are many health benefits to bear in mind which are even more important.
.
.
Exercise reduces risks of bone and heart disease, as well as some cancers. Not to mention that it works wonders on your mental health.
.
.
2. ‘I Have An Injury’
.
.
Who’s used this old chestnut? Many of us use old, or ongoing injuries as an excuse for not getting active.
.
To be fair, it’s not easy to gain motivation when you’re in pain. There’s also the fear that you’ll do more harm.
.
In truth, though, gentle exercise is the best thing for healing an injury. If you’re worried, consult your doctor about which exercises are safe for you. If you don’t think you’d be capable of even a simple work out, it’s time to get that injury seen to. If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it.
.
.
Improve your quality of life by inviting movement back into your schedule. Otherwise, you’ll see worse health problems down the line.
.
If you have a knee problem you can’t get to the bottom of, it might be worth trying something like this prp treatment for knee injuries.
.
If you have an old back injury, try a new treatment like Intradiscal Electrothermal Annuloplasty (IDET).
.
Medicine is moving all the time. Never give up on finding a cure for the problem. Then, get exercising.
.
.
3. ‘I Don’t Have Time’
.
We’ve saved the most common excuse until last. Most of us have probably used this at some point. Yet, this is the excuse that holds the least weight. Nobody has time, so nobody is going to listen when you say this.
.
But, exercise should be non-negotiable. It’s not something that you can push aside for other things. Besides, how many hours do you sit in front of the television each day?
.
We make time for the things which matter. And, if you had any sense, exercise would matter to you.
